How to Translate Audio With Google Translate Google Translate is one of the most widely used translation programs on the internet. It supports dozens of languages, more than most of its competitors, and does so with astounding accuracy. Unfortunately, most people think of Google Translate as a text-based utility. However, it is capable of much more. It provides impressively fast translation of spoken words in audio files or in real time. If you've never done it before, here's how you should go about it. Use Google Translate to Translate Audio on Mobile One of the best features of Google Translate is that it is available on all popular computer systems. Unlike some Google Translate alternatives, you should be able to use the service regardless of your device's brand or operating system, whether you're using a laptop, tablet, or mobile device. If you want to translate an audio file, you should use your mobile device. Although a mobile web browser can be used to access the service, an app is more efficient. To get started, download the Android or iOS version of the app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. As a result, if you want to translate a Hindi audio file on the app into English, you'll need to: Launch the Google Translate app. At the bottom of the screen, you can choose between two languages. The left side is English, and the right side is the other language (Hindi). If your target language is not the default choice, tap on the language on the left and select the one you want to translate from. Tap the language you want to translate to on the right side of the screen to select it. Tap the microphone button at the bottom of the screen. Play the audio file from the source on another phone or with another media player, or start speaking after the sound. When you finish speaking or playing the audio file, a screen with an interpretation and transcription of your audio file or voice recording in both languages will appear. Tap on the tiny speaker icon above the translated text to hear your voice recording.   Keep your phone as close to the source of the audio file as possible for the best results. Consider slowing down the audio file as well for more accurate results.   Translate Audio Without Pauses While the instructions above will allow you to work with short audio chats, the program may occasionally interrupt you to provide an interpretation of your speech or audio file if it detects a brief interruption in audio inputs. As a result, even if you're trying to understand a lengthy lecture or pre-recorded audio, every brief pause may cause unnecessary interruptions. This could be extremely irritating. To address this, Tap the Transcribe button that appears just above the mic button on the Google Translate app screen after tapping the mic button at the bottom of the screen when working on any lengthy speeches or previously recorded audio conversations. Google Translate's transcription mode should now be enabled. While in transcription mode, you can take long breaks without being interrupted. You will also be able to save the transcription for later use. To save, simply tap the star icon in the upper right corner of the transcription result screen. Using Google Translate to Interpret Real-Time Conversations Google Translate can be extremely useful if you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to speak in real-time in a language you don't understand. For example, in order to use Google Translate to translate a conversation between Hindi and English in real-time, you must do the following: From the Google Translate app's home screen, select the source language and the translation language. Because you'll need to translate from one language to another during a two-way conversation, Hindi or English can serve as the source or translated language in this case. Select Communication from the app's bottom-left menu. To translate the audio from Hindi to English, tap Hindi at the bottom of the screen, then speak. After you've finished speaking, you'll receive your results in English. To work on English-to-Hindi problems, tap English at the bottom of the screen and start speaking. Because you'll be conversing with someone, you can take turns speaking based on the language each user speaks. Using Google Translate to Translate Audio Files on a Desktop Whether you're using a Mac, Linux computer, Chromebook, or Windows PC, you should be able to use Google Translate from your desktop browser to understand any MP3 or audio file. On a desktop, you can use Google Translate to convert spoken words or audio files into: How to Translate Audio With Google Translate A desktop browser can be used to access translate.google.com. When you first visit the website, you'll notice two boxes: one for the translation and one for the source language (on the left) (on the right). By clicking on it, select a language from the list on the left that corresponds to the language of your audio file. If your preferred language isn't among the default options, use the dropdown menu to see other options. From the right box, select the language into which you want the audio file to be translated. Similarly, if you can't find your favorite languages by default, click the drop-down symbol to expand the list. Next, click the microphone icon in the lower-left corner of the first box. Use the media player on your smartphone or another device to play the audio file you want to translate. Google Translate Is More Than Text Translation Interpretation of text, web pages, and documents is the most popular use case for Google Translate. However, it is not solely a text-based service. You can translate just about any audio file to a preferred language as long as Google Translate actively supports voice translation for that language. Read Also: Stop your phone from being tracked
