1. The Google Play Store Recurrently Crashes

If the Google Play Store crashes right after you open it, the cache might be broken. Most problems can be fixed by clearing the cache. In order to do this:

  1. Go to Settings and then to Apps & Notifications. See all of the X apps.
  2. Find the Google Play Store in the list and touch it.
  3. When you open the Storage & Cache area, tap Clear Storage and Clear Cache. (older versions of Android use data instead of storage).
  4. Start your phone over.

2. No apps are downloaded from the Google Play Store.

Not all of the time, Google Play will install the app. You have two main ways to solve this problem. As shown in # 1 above, the first step is to clear the Google Play cache. The second choice is to clear the history of Google Play.

How to Get Rid of Google Play History

This is not a fix, but it’s worth trying if clearing the cache doesn’t work. What you should do is this:

  1. The Google Play Store should open.
  2. Go to the left sidebar and click on Settings.
  3. It should be set to “Clear local search history.”

3. ReInstalling the Google Play Store

You can’t get rid of the Google Play Store unless you root your device. If you think you’ve removed Google Play, it’s more likely that you’ve just turned it off. To turn on the Play Store again,

  • In Settings > Apps & Notifications, tap View all X apps.
  • Change the top dropdown menu, which says All Apps, to Disabled Apps.
  • Find the Google Play Store and tap on it. Tap the Enable icon to turn it back on.

5. How do I install Google Play Store?

Some tablets and phones that were bought abroad may not have the Google Play Store. In this case, you’ll need to find the Play Store APK file from a third-party source and install it by hand.

6. I need an older version of the Google Play Store.

Your device might not always be able to run the latest version of Google Play. You should try installing an older version in that case.

Check out this list of Google Play Store APKs on APKMirror. It has links to all of the major versions of the Play Store. Once you’ve downloaded it, just follow the steps above to sideload it. Very old versions of the Play Store may not work at all, which is a shame.

How to Reinstall the Google Play Store You can't uninstall the Google Play Store without rooting your device. If you think you've deleted Google Play, chances are that you've actually disabled it instead. To re-enable the Play Store, perform the following steps: Visit Settings > Apps & notifications and choose "See all X apps." At the top of the list, tap the "All apps" dropdown and change it to "Disabled apps." Find the Google Play Store and tap on it. Tap on the Enable icon to activate it again.
