Jio 5G, Smart Homes, and More: Reliance AGM 2023 Highlights

Both India and Reliance are changing. At the 46th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani gave an exciting speech in which he talked about some new plans and accomplishments. Let’s look at the main points:

They started by telling some big numbers. The company that owns Jio, Reliance Industries, made a huge 9,74,864 crore in sales in the last fiscal year (FY23). They also made a profit of 1,53,920 crore, which is a lot of zeros. What do you know? They made 2,600,000 new jobs. That means they found jobs for people.

1. Meet the New Directors:

There are new people on the board of directors for Reliance. Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, and Anant Ambani. They will help the company decide on important things. Nita Ambani, who used to be on the board, is leaving to focus on the Reliance Foundation. She wants to help India in more ways.


2. 5 More Years by Mukesh Ambani:

Mukesh Ambani will be in charge for another 5 years. He will be the Chairman and Managing Director of the company. So, he is still in charge.


3. Jio 5G:

Mukesh Ambani spoke about the 5G services offered by Jio. By December of this year, they want 5G to be available everywhere in India.  Jio is putting in a lot of effort to make this happen.


4. Jio AirFiber and Jio Smart Home:

Jio is working on some cool things. Jio AirFibre will start on September 19. It sounds like flying internet, but it’s not. They are also bringing out Smart Home services, which will make our homes smarter and cooler.


5. The Big Numbers for Reliance Retail:

The part of the company that runs stores, Reliance Retail, had a great year. They sold things to more than 100 crore people, which is a fancy way of saying that a lot of people bought things from them. Also, 78 billion people went to their stores. That’s almost as many people as live in India as a whole.


6. The Battery Revolution:

Reliance wants to build a big battery factory by 2026. This factory will make chemicals, cells, and big battery packs, among other things. Even old batteries will be re-used. This is important because our phones and electric cars run on batteries.

7. Involvement of Artificial Intelligence:

Mukesh Ambani said that India should use AI to make cool new things and help our country grow. Reliance is also working on this, and they want to be the first company to use AI to make solutions for India.
