How to Take Control of Your Using Filters in Gmail Inbox
You may find that your Gmail inbox is getting cluttered with messages, whether you want them or not. Time spent searching for messages to read or skimming through your inbox can add up quickly. The use of Filters in Gmail feature in such circumstances may prove time-saving. Filters in Gmail serve as a replacement for folders. Thanks to Gmail’s Filters feature, you can programmatically delete, star, and forward email messages, as well as file them in predetermined folders.
To find all the emails that meet that condition, you can either construct generic filters or search through your own inbox.
Here’s how you can do it:
1.
Select “Search Bar” at the very top of the page.
2.
To access the menu, select the icon that looks like three horizontal lines with slashes through them.
3.
An immediate filter menu will pop up, giving you the option to create a filter with a variety of parameters such as the sender and recipient (if you have more than one email address), the content of the subject line, keywords found within the body of the email, the size of the email, the date it was sent or received, and the attachment status.
4.
After you have entered your search criteria, click either the “Create Filter” or the “Search” button.
Important to note:Since the mobile app does not permit the application of filters to messages, it is recommended that you use Gmail on your personal computer rather than the mobile app. The filters you create will only apply to messages that have arrived within the last few days. When someone replies to a filtered message, only replies that also meet the search criteria will be processed. In the event that it does not, the response will not be screened. Using the text of previously received emails, you can create Filters in Gmail. |
This way:
1.
Simply select the “More” option from the menu that looks like three dots.
2.
Mark the checkbox that corresponds to the email you want to receive.
3.
Simply select “More” from the menu that appears when you click the three dots.
4.
From the menu that drops down, select the option that says “Filter messages like this.”
5.
Add any additional Filters in Gmail you want to use here.
6.
Just click the “Create Filter” button.
